ISLAMIC, 'Abbasid Caliphate. temp. Al-Ma'mun. Dirham (Silver, 24 mm, 2.76 g, 4 h), AH 193-218 / AD 809-833, citing Dhu'l Riyasatayn (holder of the two ministries) al-Fadl, the vizier of the caliph al-Ma'mun, Herat, AH 196 = AD 811/2. SICA III, 2067. Nicely toned. Very fine.

This coin was struck during the civil war between Al-Amin and Al-Mamun, the two sons of Harun al-Rashid. The war ended with the conquest of Madinat al-Salam by Al-Ma'mun and the execution of his brother, which was carried out on 27 September 813
